    Angry Bah!

Two online retailers of stationery that I've been frequenting have both closed their shops this year. What the hell? Is it just me?

Both retired (one sounded to be going into politics or some such). One's customers were referred to American Stationery - which is more expensive and carries more of the stuff that isn't very fp friendly rather than the stuff that is. The other, Alden Grace, was already expensive, but had the best fit for my personality in an fp friendly correspondence card and some letter sheets.

This reminds me of what my dad said about many of our favorite tv shows when I was growing up - "Find a show we like and they cancel it!"

Let's not forget all the great new online retailers that have opened up though: gouletpens.com and wonderpens.ca are both pretty good sources for paper

I hate when favorite retailers disappear! I was very upset when Swisher and Pear Tree went out of business. There are a lot of other wonderful pen retailers (the Andersons, the Goulets, Todd from isellpens, etc.) but I still miss those guys.

For my paper fix, I have been using European Paper; they sell a lot of stationery products not typically available in the US. I also really like Nanami Paper for Japanese paper.

Google is your friend. It is a bummer when a favorite store closes, but a lot of these places are mom n' pop operations. If a buyer cannot be found for the store, or if the owner wants to close instead of selling, then the place is gone for good. That applies to brick and mortar stores, and even more so to online-only businesses. The Internet now makes a whole world of stores available, so there is always a plan B of some sort. It is still rather disappointing, though. One office supplies store near me that also sold stationery, fountain pens and inks closed after 110 years in business. I'm still bummed about that, but at least there are plenty of online stores selling the same things.

I hope you find a stationer that is to your liking.

What's even worse is when a Manufacturer stops making your favorite paper! I fell in love with Crane Newport Blue paper and bought a few reams of it in half sheet sizes, even got some with a cranberry frame printed by them. Then they just stopped making it!

Hope you can find another store!
